The wild part about Tarantino are the parallels between him and Ed Wood. They both have a hard love for movies and pulp fiction (not the movie). They even cast actors that were considered washed up or out of their way but they themselves love. Obviously Ed Wood completely lacked the talent or environment to help grow into a real film maker.
Pam Grier still fine. Maybe if I looked like Forster I'd have a chance.
Reservoid Dogs was very popular in Europe.
Quentin may be a great director, but I have no interest in watching violence. When you think about, violence is easy to write, it takes no skill to just do bang bang.
The sheer number of terrible, awful, direct to video/streaming action/violent movies that exist compared to the number of actual quality violent films shows just how ignorant you are.
Americans are so lucky to live in America, the place where these things can happen. I will probably never be able to live in America cause I'm born in Europe. Only an investor visa will get me there but it's 900 000 dollars and I only saved about 20k now -_-' Life is not fair at all.
Why am I mister Pink?!?!?!
"Harvey Weinstein is great!" LOL
The "low" of heroin is beeing sick John.
I love Django. That spaghetti western style done QT's way.
Who would speak of Harvey Weinstein in a good light today? HHHMMMM!!!!!!!! LOL
just a bar
Surprised QT didn't tell RZA to just scrap video village tbh
i am in the rare here but Sam L agrees with me . . .My list goes #1 Jackie Brown #2 Django #3 Pulp Fiction #4 Kill Bill #5 Reservoir #6 Inglorious #7 The Hateful 8 #8 Once Upon a Time in Hollywood cause it is just a nostalgic boring movie great acting but a boring movie because it is Quietens real life past
We gonna talk about the destruction of Uma Thurman's body?
They should focus on the independent market again.
Man this was such a good treat! Thank you for this video! Quentin is like Muhammad Ali of filmmaking. It has this magic and love to it that's just amazing. I mean Rza and Quentin, Robert and Quentin, De Niro and Quentin, Harvey and Quentin, Eli Roth and Quentin etc. etc. this can't be a coincidence. It's almost frightening when I think about it. I'm loving it and I'm very thankfull.
Lol wait Bruce Willis wasn’t the lead... could of fooled me... also very strange seeing the adoration everyone has for Harvey Weinstein
I don’t know I love his movies but it seams to me like he’s holding something back especially now that the rumorIs going around he’s almost done making movies I just don’t understand that how could you possibly be done I don’t think he’s actually done what he really wants to do I’m just think writing here
I get the feeling we won't see another QT movie for several years and he'll be in his 60s by that point. So on top of not wanting to tarnish his film legacy, he probably doesn't want to work the rest of his life. He'll probably keep writing, and most certainly continue to prop up other young or unknown filmmakers.
Its not a rumour that hehe wants to stop making movies. He's actively admitted he's going to stop. He's got an incredible legacy, and he doesn't want tarnish his brilliant filmography.
Wow, I didn't know Sally Menke had passed. Granted, I'm so far removed and out of touch with television and news media or any kind of media really, but that kind of a news blurb usually makes its way into my nearly silent, peaceful little bubble. RIP, and we're all thankful for such a great partnership with the greatest living director (sorry, Nolan).
When Pulp Fiction came out I went to see it at the theater 4 nights in a row! My favorite movie!
When they were talking about how john travolta was quentins first and only choice, quentin himself admitted he wrote the part with michael madsen in mind but michael was already booked to do another movie
25 minutes in and not 1 'Arrright' has been spoken. The big Q should be in this
There is LOVE for movies..not just making a buck..Mr Tarantino..i will kick your ass..thats a quote from Octagon..:)
Work with quitin and be liberated ... and shure .. this is not for every actor
God. The Weinstein references are so awkward now.
Yeah ... really ..it feels actually good to hear something positive about him ..it feels like a nuance on somebody who s been broken by most ..
This guy makes GREAT, absolutely AMAZING films but he should just STFU. Reminds me of Tom Cruise - someone who thinks popularity equals you have something to say.
Too bad harvey weinstein, didn't realize how his sexual harassment/assault of women, would get him in serious trouble, in 2020. But it did, and to hear someone praise him in the film as a movie mogul, is proof that he was getting away with sexually assaulting and harassing women, because no one spoke up against him.
Who the hell wrote those subtitles !??
Robert Rodriguez vs Eli Roth in a fight. Who wins? ~Go:
It's a hard thing to say because I love so many filmmakers intensely, but Quentin is the definitive filmmaker of my generation, maybe ever, only to be surpassed by Ford, Kurosawa, Bergman and Hitchcock
... and Coppola, Scorsese, Kubrick, Spielberg,, Coen, et al..... QT one of the best of his generation, for sure.
This mindless dribble that just feeds the young minds with Gore, Murder and Mayhem just shows how society is spiraling down to the level of Caligula and Rome in the 3rd and 4th Century. Society Wil demand to have it cranked up a notch were nothing will satisfy except more and more mindless blood letting. Surely the sign of a sick society. Give me intelligent dialogue any day even if it's in black and white.
To each their own.
So good seeing Pam and Robert together. The bond that they already had and carried with them into JB shines so much. No artifice like you see all the time with these modern day jerks that would break the pretense and spit on each other if it got them a little more attention.
That's too bad Sally Menke died after that Tarantino films went too crap.
@Chris Maskiell That's my opinion don't have to agree with you and all the other sheeple.
Hateful 8 and Django were crap? ..... umm, Ok
Half way through, this comment went to crap.
Imagine your first movie being Reservoir Dogs.
@Electronic Shorts You're correct. I wasn't meaning to come across as an ass. I was mostly just bringing attention to the fact that many first features are crap and that's okay! :-) But I apologize if my comment was rude.
That would be nice, but it's not his first movie.
Watching this recently there’s no doubt Penn completely smashes it by far. Harvey seems to call it in. Penn kicks the doors in ☺️💪 I feel Harvey didn’t realise how awesome this film was and dialled it in big time but he definitely credified the film so fair dues 👍
Really? Everyone has their own opinion I guess. I think Keitel's performance as Mr. White is perfection. Nice Guy Eddie is a louder, brasher guy. It wouldn't have made sense for White to be chewing up the scenery the way Eddie did. I mean, shit, Blonde is very lowkey most of the film. Do you think Madsen "dialed it in"? You're entitled to your opinion, I am just baffled by it. So many great moments with White. All the stuff between him and Orange. Even just little stuff, like when Orange tells the cops-in-the-bathroom story, and White laughs, "That's hard, that is a hard situation." He's fucking brilliant.
Whole film based in a convenience store? Kevin Smith has some explaining to do 😅
What’s with the constant cough of Lawrence Bender? Some form of Tourette?
53:52 When he goes 'I took copious -' I genuinely thought he was about to say 'I took copious amounts of Heroin'.. For a second.
Man, if it wasn’t for Harvey Weinstein....
Well, that's how it goes. I'm sure Hitler wasn't an absolute piece of garbage every day, every moment. Weinstein had an eye for talent, knew how to nurture it. He just also happened to be a lecherous scumbag. What are ya gonna do?I just worry, without him to sort of keep his feet on the ground, QT will overindulge. I mean, sorry to say, his first and so far only movie without him, it really wasn't as great as his others, imo. I'm a huge DiCaprio fan, love Margot Robbie, Pitt, Dakota Fanning, etc. But, goddamn, that movie could've used a steady, strong hand to say no once in a while. It just went on and on and on. Only Tarantino movie besides Death Proof, which was sorta intentionally a lesser work, that I can't list in my top all-time films. Ya gotta wonder how much of a hand the old rapist had in making those movies the classics they are. I was worried after Menke died, but Django and Hateful Eight were masterpieces. This last one, though, meh. I mean, it's GOOD, but it's not up to his usual efforts. It just has too many overly long scenes. I think Weinstein would've reined him in.
I was trying to be a producer. I already hate you.
he was good, he's not anymore. Get over it. Fincher burries his sorry ass. my two favourites are jackie brown and reservoir dogs. Quentin's dead in the water and should take less drugs.
Reservoir Dogs was really overrated. Looked pretty cheap and was boring. Not his best work.
Many times I just want to get a midnight sleep and accidentally bumb into a Tarantino movie in TV......no matter it is a movie I already watched multiple times or whatever time in night it is I always have to watch it again. Can not help it not to do.Period.
very classy, unselfish end to the segment w/ the WU-TANG Clan guy about Sally (whom I never heard of 'til tonite).
@Kiwi Milller musically off my radar, but he is obviously one cool dude. younger folks in my family were/are into WU-TANG CLAN.
Then he made "once upon a time in hollywood' ,,,,,, squirming through that s**t ,,that sucker owes me $30!
Flippin Love this!!!
I loved Harvey before i heard this but now I've truly fell into love with him "Sport"
Oh My GAWD....Hey Ive cornered this girl and im about to rape her...and her mom is in the hallway...is this script this good cuz Ive got such a HARDON....this script is giving me wood..(shut up Honey, this sint for you...keep your mouth open..no biting and dont remove the blindfold)Oh my gawd...love.loooove this...script(yes keep sucking)
I love his moves, I love his soundtracks. What a guy. Talent and taste. What a guy. Thanks Quentin for the ride of a lifetime with your tastes.
Harvey is Harvey....ha HE was the Fabulous, unforgettable remarkable man who no one could ever forget or succeed without him...THAT ALL OF HOLLYWOOD HAS FORGOTTEN AND SUCCEDED WITHOUT
Just found out Robert Forster died back in Oct 19... They had a in memorium on the end of S4E1 of Better Call Saul. Bummer. RIP RF!
RIP Weinstein too.. He just got found guilty of being a rapist. Such a shame that he is such a PoS ... seems he was critical to QTs early movies.
Weinstein is abusive to women and has been called on it. Treating women like shit, just doesn't fly anymore. Passing money around a man does not make. That aside. Glad QT came through to his own, as he is a genius.
Well, now we know Harvey is a pig.
Thé Pam Gréer and Robert Forster section is fantastic, his reaction to her and the way she tells her story... fab
I agree with you 100%, specially Roberts story!!! Very interesting and almost emotional, I don't know the man apart from being an actor obviously, but not personally and loved the happy ending like if he was a family member. Very happy for him, plus he was fantastic in J B . watching him on this interview and compare with the roll proves what a good actor he is ...
I really liked Natural Born Killers and True Romance but I would love to see how Quinton would have directed them.
It worked out how it was supposed to. At least w/ NBK. True Romance, yeah, it's a great film, but it probably would've been even better had QT directed. But NBK, so much of it is Stone. The different film stocks, and adding quick cartoon versions...and the whole mystical, mushroom-trip feel. That's pure Stone and wouldn't have been in there had QT done it. And, imo, that stuff is part of what makes it such a classic. "Whole world's coming to an end, Mal."
I wish this documentary lasted 8 hours and covered the whole Quentin Tarantino filmography.
RiP sally she was at the peak and prime of her art with inglorious bastards 🎥
The story about "Pulp Fiction" and everything around it is a kind of moviemakers and movielovers fairy tale. Like literally all dreams come true and the entire world is happy as one. There is only one more movie I felt exhilarated the same way and I find it as good as Pulp Fiction; it is a Croatian movie called "Pušća Bistra" (2005), but unfortunately its story and global reception has been completely different, nobody has ever heard about it, let alone watched it and screenwriter/director Filip Šovagović basically received no recognition for it even though he'd made an eternal masterpiece like no other.
Good doc! Actually a little better than the new one.
Where’s Roger Avery?
Jackie Brown is his most slept on movie ever. When TV-indiars talks about Quentin movies they rarely bring it up or just skim through it. Sam J plays a part that is so authentic to that really scary guy on the other side of the railroad 🛤 tracks
Theres a level of restraint in this movie that isnt present in his others. His movies now almost seem to be parodies of his earlier work and over the top. I think at times someone needs to reign in Tarrantino but nobody can do that! The reason Jackie Brown is so good is a because Tarrantino didnt write the story he just adapted it for the screen!
Dude yes I love this movie if anything this is my fav and my 2 reservoir dogs I like pulp fiction but it's kinda overrated and a bit long but it's still good
Along with all the positive feedback about Jackie Brown, one of my favorite things about Jackie Brown is Robert De Niro's character. He was brilliant.
@mango... absolutely, was saying exactly this on a different thread!
Solid movie for sure. From start to finish.
reservoir dogs actually shows little violence but leaves the watcher imagining what occurred. even the cops ear removal is perceived by the views. the only violence is the shootout with the cops by mr pink and the ending when they all shoot each other. its easily one of my favorite films.
and White killing the cops and shooting the lady in the car. but that's all.
Kind of like there only being 1 on screen murder in Se7en.
bring on more mr white's in movies it portrays real life more, the world today is more violent and unfriendly. Michael Madsen plays this part perfectly for me he's a great actor playing a great part.
I think Travolta was good in early movies like Grease and Saturday Night Fever. But am I the only one to think he was the wrong choice for that role in Pulp Fiction. You really needed a guy like Christian Bale to play a junkie type character that can be believable in that role as a low life. Travolta wasn’t believable in that role, just like he wasn’t believable as John Gotti.
I really disagree. Bale plays a junkie like a degen. Which is more believable. But Travolta played one like a fictional cool trope. The heroin wasn't really the point. And Vincent Vega all characters in Pulp Fiction were highly fictionalized iconic representations. Travolta was perfect Vega imo. And to compare that with Gotti is just trying to be mean.
I seem to recall an issue with the original soundtrack, something to do with CCR when it went to VHS. I believe the initial shipment to video stores had to be returned to the distributors. Anyone know about this?
❤ 🎥 RIP Sally and Robert 🎥 ❤
@28:44 That woman could be a great character witness for Harvey Weinstein the way she worships him, unless she was one of his victims after this?
I hope Quentin hooks back up with Harvey Keitel, the man who is one of the primary reasons he was able to finance his first film, for his last film and let it come back full circle.
@Jonathan Martin Mr pink was killed by the cops at the end if you listen closely enough you can hear it
Evander Jameson That would basically be a Steve Buscemi one man play since he’s the only one who survived.
Reservoir Dogs 2?
Along with steve buscemi
HARVEY WEINSTEIN? I thought his hero was QUINN MARTIN? Pretty bold in this climate ! Wait until he gets a load of PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN! maybe he will be in a real PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN? hey HE IS A NICE GUY!
Please note this documentary was filmed in 2012, well before the epic scumbaggery of Weinstein was made public as it is now. Fuck that guy.
The scenes that John Travolta and Samuel Jackson have together are so great you have to love it.
Eli Roth at 33:14 ..lol that's the BearJew..I love that
1994. The last year on Earth when anything was possible. When you could wake up to a new day, dream, and start again. Within two years the web, the internet or whatever the fuck it's called.
Why don't you creat a time machine I would like to go back myself.
Why does Sam J has dicks on his hat?
I am the guy with the next big script. it's time someone stepped and changed the game again
Shame that RZA didn't learn how to direct from all that time he supposedly spent with Tarantino. LOL
Interesting that Sam Jackson & Travolta never Met before Pre production on Pulp. They had to have great chemistry as they seemed so Inseparable as partners in the narrative of the story. Cool they really bonded
Hello my name is Adam. If Quinton stops making movies. I will be Sad Adam. And his name will be Quitting Tarantino. And we all will be sad and cry like Bambinos And the movies will go back to the Stone Age like Dino. End of Cino.
28:28 didn't age well
@2 Clicks it's crazy cause I did a similar thing. But tbh I came to the comments looking yo see if anyone said this lol
wow i paused the video and looked in the comments at the exact same timestamp that you referenced. indeed. this comment aged as well as milk left on some Arizonan’s drive way in the middle of a summer heatwave
it sounds like she was being held at gun point force to read the ransom note he wrote for our to read out loud.
BlackShampoo75 Hahahah nice
And now Robert Deniro is an unhinged loser... Never thought that would happen lol
I agree he's as f*cked as Donald Trump! Politics are for puppets!..
how come, he is stil one of the greatest actors of all time. Had some turkeys in the latter years but now he is back in The Irishman and Joker. Most of the world hates trump if his id love to punch him speech annoyed you.
"Hooray for Harvey Weinstein..."FFWD"Harvey who?...no, never knew him"
A total pleasure, first time i listen to him out of a character, Samuel L Jackson, your precious!
Sundance audience prolly didnt like it cus Utah's a morman melting pot with a lot of religious overly nice pple lmao
still looks like Pam Grier has a crush on Robert Forster
Harvey Weinstein was obviously a creative guy. It's sad that he also turned out to be total prick
kinda made harvey keitel seem like a cheap prick. making a movie with these dudes, convinces them to cast in ny then doesnt sit with them on the plane
lets wait until you pay for an airfare for a pair of unknown director/producer that have approached you with a script and their crazy ideas out of your own pocket and re-read that comment then again.
If you morphed Cruze and MacConaghae you get Lawrence Bender.
@baberina1 Taratino is overrated but not the movies just the way too long ass dialogues he writes making them.Like Monty Python says get on with it😏
Dude try and be interesting or original for once on your life.
It IS boring!! ... bet Tarantino didn't direct this piece of blah blah blah blah junk!!
@chumcool well, thanks for calling me back, moron!!
28:30 honestly makes me really sad
Watching in 2019, the reverence for Harvey Weinstein is really icky.
@Theoden Alexander As long as it's more Pulp Fiction and less revised history we could have a legend.
@Theoden Alexander That's fine as long he makes better stuff lately his latest films have been disappointing.Except that the mainstream media gives him way too much recognition.
@Marcel Zachary he said he might make more when he is 75 or something but these will be the official 10. He already doesnt count Death Proof. He'll make more.
@Tomás Cuddihy RIP to Tarantino he's retiring after his next movie.
Icky indeed...his days of being the receiver are done...cannot wait for his first prison romance...hes gonna make someone a wonderful little bride. And Bonus is he cant crawl away.
"Harvey Keitel is bringing us out espressos..."Maybe that's why they put the coffee in Pulp Fiction, so The Wolf could take a sip and instantly acknowledge the quality."Goddamn, Jimmie! This is some serious gourmet shit!"
Wow this Harvey Weinstein dude seems like a funny guy.... oh wait.
Count Yorga Long live MXC!!!
That Harvey Weinstein..... That guys a real jerk!!
@Braincoral so true...and sad thing is ALL of those who worshiped his POWER back then knew of the rumors..many knew women who were victims...but they chose to ignore it to make money of get a part. ALL BUT SETH MCFARLAN...his wonderful breaking that bubble moment in Academy Awards was truely brave.
Hes hillarious as hes sticking a thimble up your ass and Whining about finishing him off before you go to the police. One of the common things the transcripts of his begging and forced sex on those women was how pittaful he was about it...begging and saying no no this is fine(as hes holding their arms pulling them in) just the tip(as he pulls his robe belt with his fat foot)He is really so repulsive...and those who had sex with him and figured it was cost of having a career without ever complaining before the hoopla are not innocent ..they are culpable in any woman who he assaulted who came after them. It's all so disgusting and buisness as usuall for Hollywood doesnt mean oH WELL...it means that buisness is deplorable. Watching that hunched pittaful fatass struggeling to make it from his limousine to the entrance of the numerous courthouses is a guilty pleasure..One can only imagine that first of many experiences of being on the reverse end of the sexual abuse train...
@djsjjd15 Where are the fashion mavens when we just.... 'absolutely fabulously' need them...
Reservoir Dogs > City on Fire.
Romeo Shreve And The Departed > original Hong Kong triology :)
